The museum is located at Addison Airport (KADS), just north of Dallas, Texas. The airport was founded by Jim Cavanaugh who, as owner/operator of Trinity Aviation began collecting vintage aircraft in response to requests from customers that had heard he had an old plane or two around someplace. That “old plane” collection has grown substantially over the years into a world class collection representing aircraft from all branches of military service for the United States including Army Air Corps/Army Air Force/U.S. Air Force and Navy/Marine Corps; with several foreign warbirds represented as well including British Spitfire and Hurricane fighters; German BF-109 fighters; Russian YAK series fighters; French Morane Saulnier; Japanese Zero fighter; Italian Macchi 202 fighter and more!

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum is located in Addison Airport, a suburb of Dallas. Our museum is dedicated to preserving the history of aviation and inspiring an interest in aviation among young people. With over 40 aircraft on display, we have Texas’ largest collection of World War II aircraft and the finest example of Korean War jet fighters found anywhere. The museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which means you can support us with your tax-deductible donation that goes directly towards our educational programs and mission! An effort is made to display and fly aircraft that are in standard military markings and/or camouflage, with limited exceptions. The museum was founded by Jay Cavanaugh, who had spent most of his career flying Douglas DC-3s before retiring to start the museum. It is located at Addison Airport (KADS) in Addison, Texas. In addition to the static display of many different types of aircraft, the museum also offers flight experiences in several airplanes including a P-51 Mustang and a Stearman biplane. The current collection includes 30+ aircraft, including:

• North American P-51D Mustang – “Bum Steer”
• North American AT-6 Texan – Dallas Executive Airport (KRBD)
• Grumman F8F Bearcat – N7825C – “Peg 0' My Heart”

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and includes over 40 aircraft, representing Navy, Army Air Corps/Air Force, Marine Corps, and British aviation history from World War II through recent active duty. The Cavanaugh Flight Museum's collection ranges from civilian biplanes to WWII fighters, trainers and bombers. There are jets of all types including the F-100 Super Sabre, F-101 Voodoo, F-105 Thunderchief, F6F Hellcat, T-38 Talon, T-33 Shooting Star and more.

Over the years since it was established, the number of aircraft at the museum has grown to over 40.

Since it was founded in 1985, the museum has grown to include over 40 historic aircraft. The collection began with only a small number of planes that were owned by private collectors. But over the years, as more people learned about this great museum and started donating their collections, the Cavanaugh Flight Museum became home to one of the largest private collections of its kind. Today, you can see restored vintage military aircraft such as a Douglas A-26C Invader flown during World War II and a Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star—a jet trainer used by air forces around the world from 1948 to 2003. You can also see rare aircraft like the 1928 Stout 2AT Push Pull Plane or a replica of a Curtiss JN4D biplane like those used for barnstorming in the 1920s. With so much to see, it's no wonder that this museum is considered one of Dallas's hidden gems and attracts visitors from all over Texas and beyond!
